Tao Guitars - Phaeton 'Villa D'Este
From Tao Guitars
Villa d’Este ---------------
This particular Phaeton is more on the jazz/archtop side kind of Orville meets D'aquisto into Raymond Loewy streamline style.
So it's quite unique compare to our previous ones, we've call it "Villa d'Este" because it kind of bears the aesthetics of the Alfa Romeo from 1949 6 C 2500 "Villa D'este". The place called Villa D'este on the lake Como is also known from all collector cars enthusiasts as being the ultimate " Concorso d'eleganza" that started in the 30’s, the connection between the guitar and the classic car was obvious so we found the name of this special project.
It features a 3D binding as found on some classic German archtops from the 50’s as Hopf An ebony and bone “Jimmy D’aquisto” style adjustable bridge and a machined aluminum tailpiece and matching ebony pickguard in the “streamlined” theme.
Apart from being an aesthetically striking piece, it's also a real player, a smooth operating jazz guitar wearing our brand new Ribbon pup with a clear and articulate sound a 3 position switch that gives you more sounds options than the standard jazz neck pup, neck side bobbin clear and warm, both more clarity and last a weaker bobbin close to those classic Italian sought after "Wandré" guitars from the sixties
Let this guitar speak for herself.
