Timeless Elegance
The Iconic Watches That Defined Eras
Yes, watches are technically made to keep time, but it’s never that simple. They’re also symbols of adventure, celebration, and elegance. From conquering oceans to reaching the moon, luxury watches have become icons of style. At Walt Grace Vintage, we’re fortunate enough to showcase some of the most legendary timepieces ever crafted—the Rolex Day-Date, Rolex Submariner, Omega Speedmaster, and the Rolex GMT-Master to name a few. Each one tells an timeless story, and today, we’re sharing a few of them.
Rolex Day-Date: The President’s Watch
If legacy had a face, the Day-Date would be it.
Dubbed the “President’s Watch,” it’s adorned the wrists of world leaders, innovators, and visionaries since its debut in 1956. As the first wristwatch to display both the day and the date spelled out in full, it set a new standard for sophistication.
Crafted exclusively in precious metals and paired with the iconic President bracelet, the Day-Date is the epitome of power and prestige. Whether it’s closing deals in a boardroom or stealing the spotlight at a gala, this timepiece doesn’t just keep time—it defines it.
With that said, we’re proud to showcase a Rolex Day-Date 'Qaboos' in 18K Yellow Gold from 1985—a limited-edition piece made specifically for Sultan Qaboos Bin Said Al Said of Oman. Distinguished by its red insignia, Rolex produced these watches in limited quantities from the 1970s through the 1980s, primarily as gifts from the Sultan to dignitaries, military officials, and close associates. To top it off, the collaboration between Rolex and Sultan Qaboos was facilitated by Asprey of London, a renowned luxury goods dealer.
Rolex Submariner: The Quintessential Dive Watch
When it comes to luxury sport watches for men, few names resonate as loudly as the Rolex Submariner. Launched in 1953, it wasn’t just made for the depths—it was made to break barriers. Built for underwater exploration but equally at home on dry land, the Submariner blends rugged performance with refined style.
From James Bond’s daring escapades to modern-day adventurers, this watch has proven its versatility. Water-resistant, rugged, and effortlessly elegant—the Submariner is a must-have for those who live boldly.
We don’t have just one, two, or three—but four Submariners currently at Walt Grace Vintage. Ranging from 1966 to 2002, these are watches you'll definitely want to dive into—especially our '4-Liner,' made in 1966 and in remarkable condition, paired with a 6635 Oyster Rivet Flex Bracelet.
Omega Speedmaster: The Moonwatch
How many watches can claim they’ve been to the moon? The Omega Speedmaster can—and it has the legacy to prove it. Selected by NASA in 1965, it accompanied—and saved the asses of—the astronauts on the Apollo 11 mission in 1969, earning the nickname 'Moonwatch.'
Its timeless design and precision chronograph function make it as practical as it is legendary. Whether timing laps on Earth or pushing boundaries in space, the Speedmaster is a tribute to human ingenuity.
Over the years, Omega has released various iterations of the Speedmaster, each retaining its original appeal while adding unique features. The Speedmaster, reference 3576.50.00, combines the classic design with a moonphase and date complication, offering a modern twist on the iconic chronograph.
Our 2005 Omega Speedmaster 3576.50.00 can be considered to be in “like new” condition and is accompanied by its original box and papers.
Rolex GMT-Master: The Jetsetter’s Essential
Designed for Pan Am pilots in 1955, the Rolex GMT-Master was built for a new era of travel. Its dual-time-zone functionality made it an instant favorite among travelers, allowing them to keep pace with changing time zones while looking effortlessly stylish.
With its signature two-tone bezel and unmatched reliability, the GMT-Master is a passport to timeless elegance. Today, it continues to capture the spirit of adventure and sophistication.
To prove how timeless they are, take a look at this two-tone GMT-Master from 1978. This watch is from nearly 5 decades ago and it still looks astonishing.
