Brought to life as General Motors’ answer to Ford’s Mustang, Pontiac released the first Firebird in February of 1967. After taking many shapes from inception, the most famed being the second generation—in particular the Trans-Am model—the Firebird became an instant household icon when Burt Reynolds arrived on the silver screen with “Bandit” in the legendary ‘70s blockbuster, Smokey and the Bandit.
