Released in June of 1970, the “Range Rover” was touted as “A Car For All Reasons”.
The Range Rover was a massive leap forward from the “Land Rovers” prior, which were seen as the world’s leading utilitarian vehicles. This all new platform allowed the brand to speak to an entirely different audience—the daily driver. With luxurious color combinations and fittings resembling that of marques such as Jaguar, Bentley and Rolls-Royce, the “Range Rover” became the world’s first, upscale sport utility vehicle.
Photographed here, this 1980 Range Rover ”Classic” was originally delivered to Italy and was most recently in Nice, France where it received a comprehensive refresh, inclusive of a complete re-paint in the iconic, Lincoln Green color-way. Accompanied by a British Heritage Certificate, this particular truck is a factory Left-Hand Drive example. And, opposed to the diesel powered motor, it has its original 3.5L, gasoline powered V8 mated to a 4-speed manual transmission.
