Founded by Argentine-born racer Alejandro de Tomaso, De Tomaso built its reputation on blending Italian design with American muscle. Introduced in 1971, the Pantera combined a sleek, mid-engine chassis styled by Ghia with a Ford-sourced V8, creating an exotic that delivered both performance and relative usability. Sold exclusively through Lincoln-Mercury dealers in the U.S. it quickly becoming the brand’s most iconic model.
By 1974, the Pantera had seen a series of refinements aimed at improving build quality, cooling, and drivability over earlier cars. While still raw and unmistakably aggressive, these later examples benefited from incremental updates that made them more livable without dulling the car’s edge. The Ford 351 Cleveland V8 remained at its heart, delivering strong, reliable power in a package that retained its distinctly European character.
This particular 1974 Pantera stands out as a true survivor, with only 7,820 original, and documented, miles. Believed to be one of only around 60 examples finished in the rare Medium Green, it presents as an unusually original car in both condition and specification. Unrestored and remarkably well-kept, it offers a rare opportunity to experience the Pantera exactly as close to how they left the factory.
