The 1950s and ‘60s marked what was quite possibly the most important and influential period for General Motors. Holding a near 50 percent market share, GM was on top. Their star player? Cadillac.
Since inception in 1952, Cadillac’s El Dorado has been the pinnacle of American automotive luxury. In 1960, and only second to the Burgham, Cadillac released their most expensive iteration of the El Dorado to date. The 1960 El Dorado Biarrtiz was priced at nearly $8,000 and had a limited run of only 1,285. This one year only body style was nearly 19 feet long and featured top-of-the line interior finishing, air-suspension, fully powered equipment—including the convertible top, and was powered by a triple-carbureted, 390 c.u. V8, putting out 345 HP.
