Introduced in 1948 and built until 1965, the Porsche 356 was the brand’s first full scale production car, and truly, the beginning of it all. Over its fifteen-year run it grew from a light, hand-formed coupe into a genuine sports car with an all out motorsport resume that only a few other marques of the era could come close to.
Arriving in 1960, the “B” generation of the 356 sits at the heart of that story—and, in Super 90 form, the most potent street 356 you could order before the Carrera. Its 1,600cc flat-four made 90 horsepower, the highest output of any standard 356 engine of the day and was a fantastic expression of the platform's versatility.
Photographed here, our 1962 356Super 90 Cabriolet, is finished today in black over a tan leather interior and is a wonderful driver “plus” caliber example. Fitted with a period correct motor and a converted 12V electrical system, this particular 356 Super 90 is ready to be enjoyed as a weekend cruiser or even more so, as a daily driver—yes, we mean that!
