British curves with an American heartbeat…
To make the legendary American racer & entrepreneur Carol Shelby’s dream come true, all that was necessary was an iconic body and a beast of a motor—enter, AC & Ford… UK’s oldest automobile manufacture, AC (Auto Carriers Ltd), and the American behemoth that is Ford, were brought together by Shelby’s vision to shake up the sports car market—and win while doing so.
In the early 1960s, that collision of grace and brute force created one of the most feared and celebrated cars ever built. The car was offered with either a narrow or wide body and a 289 small block or a 427 big block V8—both were loud, raw, and utterly unstoppable.
Decades later, David Kirkham brought that same obsession to life in Provo, Utah. After discovering Polish aircraft craftsmen capable of shaping aluminum with surgical precision, he set out to build Cobras the right way—by hand, in metal, and without compromise. Today, Kirkham stands as the benchmark and is known for crafting the only true aluminum-bodied Cobra.
This particular car, first registered in 2007 and driven less than a thousand miles since, captures that spirit perfectly. Optioned with their lightweight package and paired with a 427 big-block and side pipes, this menace pushes out nearly 500 horsepower and weighs less than 2k lbs. And, aside from a modern cooling system to make it as drivable as possible for as long as possible, this is, for all intents and purposes, the real deal!
