By the late 1960s, Heuer was at the center of an emerging culture of motorsport-inspired chronographs, producing reference after reference that blended serious utility with quintessential style.
Introduced in 1968, the Camaro, was among their most striking designs. Featuring a cushion-cased manual-wind chronograph that epitomized the era, and unique dial characteristics such as colored second hands.
This early 1970s reference, 7220, presents beautifully. Its cream panda dial displaying three matte black registers in classic contrast, the manual-wind Valjoux 7730 movement is in fine working order and that striking orange second hand is the perfect nod to mid-century design. Paired with a grey leather strap with white stitching, this is a crisp example of an “If-you-know-you-know” piece that is sure to catch the eye of those who actually know, AND those who have to.
