When Ford introduced the Bronco in the mid-1960s, it was meant to be simple and capable above all else. And, with its compact dimensions, short overhangs, and straightforward mechanicals. it was exactly that. Designed to be driven daily, worked hard and taken off-road at moments notice, the Bronco had reached a sweet spot in its evolution by the early 1970s.
The RestoMod wave has been especially kind to the Bronco. With its strong bones, rudimentary layout, and an aftermarket deep enough to build whatever you want, the Bronco platform really is a dream come true for buyers and builders alike. To that point, when their built right—with a modern drivetrain, dialed suspension, clean interior—the result is a truck that outperforms the original in every measurable way, while making it daily drivable by any era’s standards.
Finished in Ferrari Rosso Corsa with a Porsche Silver Metallic roll-cage over a gorgeous diamond stitched tan interior, our 1974 Bronco is as purposeful as it looks. The new 302ci V8 was built with a mild cam and ported heads, giving it that classic low-rpm V8 rumble, while electronic fuel injection and a Mustang Cobra engine management system bring it squarely into the modern era.
Power runs through a Lentech four-speed AOD automatic transmission with an overdrive lockout and a dual-range twin-stick transfer case. Both axles were rebuilt and feature Dana 44 up front with chromoly axles and 9-inch in the rear with a limited-slip differential and 31-spline axles, all complimented by a full James Duff suspension with dual shocks per corner, a steering stabilizer, power steering, and front disc brakes. Inside, diamond-stitched high-backs, a Bailie Bilt roll bar, Ididit tilt column, full gauges, A/C, and an Alpine system make this a Bronco that you can drive every day. Accompanied by a Deluxe Marti Report and a documented build history, this is one of the best builds that we’ve seen.
