1980's Gerald Genta Perpetual Auto Yellow Gold Ref. G2840

The Gérald Genta calendar designs from the 1980s impressively balance a lot of information in a clean and dressy package. This Ref. G2840, part of the Genta “Success” line, manages to keep a full perpetual calendar layout readable in a 33mm case without feeling crowded.

The iconic octagonal shape of the 18k yellow gold case is somewhat reminiscent of Genta’s most famous design, the Royal Oak. It has soft, round edges, a thin bezel, and short central lugs. The dial is laid out with day, date, month and leap year, and the moonphase, each contained within its own register. Petite roman numerals run the outer track, and thin pencil hands keep the calendar complications visible at all times. 

This example shows minor surface wear consistent with gentle use over the decades. The crystal is clean overall, and the dial is spotless with even color and crisp printing. The watch is fitted to an OEM Genta black leather strap and gold buckle, both in excellent condition.
