For eighteen years, the R107 SL was the car that the rest of the world measured itself against—a convertible engineered with the over-built integrity Mercedes-Benz reserved for its very best work. By the time the 560 SL arrived as the American-market flagship, the platform had been refined across a decade and a half into something close to perfect.
With a 5.6L naturally aspirated V8 and a butter smooth automatic gearbox, it is the SL that defined an era of Southern California town-down cruising and has aged into one of the most usable classics one can own.
Our 1986 560 SL is presented in a genuinely rare and elegant combination of Black Pearl Metallic over Medium Red leather. The interior appears to be entirely original and most notably, has a crack free dash and wood trim set. Showing only 39k miles, which are believed to be original, this is a wonderful example of one of the most accessible and enjoyable cars of its era.
