1990 Rolex Submariner Ref.16610

Introduced in 1953, the Rolex Submariner was built for underwater adventure and has been a go-to for divers, explorers, and watch lovers ever since. Over the years, it’s evolved with better materials and tech, but the core DNA has stayed the same: rugged, reliable, and unmistakably Rolex. With its rotating bezel, luminous markers, and classic stainless-steel case, the Sub has become one of the most iconic tool watches ever made.

The reference 16610, launched in the late ‘80s, bridges the gap between vintage and modern. You get the old-school charm—like tritium lume and drilled lugs—with upgrades like a sapphire crystal, unidirectional bezel, and the rock-solid Caliber 3135 movement. 

This particular, 1990 example, is a great early production piece, and importantly, it still has its original tritium dial and hands, putting it in that sweet spot before Rolex moved to Luminova later in the decade. Even better, it comes with its original box and papers, which is getting harder to find these days. The case is still crib and the bezel insert has aged just right. If you’re after a 16610 with vintage vibes but modern reliability, this one checks a lot of boxes.
