The 360 marked many firsts Ferrari. But, arguably the largest, was its aluminum space frame AND aluminum body—leaving the car substantially lighter than its predecessor, the F355. Additionally, Pininfarina used this weight saving exercise to abandon the pop-up headlamps and the eggcrate grille for a shape worked out in the wind tunnel. Bodied by Scaglietti, it is second to last last Ferrari V8 offered with a “Gated" six-speed manual.
Powered by a 3.6-liter naturally aspirated V8 with five valves per cylinder, it makes 400 HP and that is all delivered through a wonderfully linear experience. With a classic hydraulic power steering box and the coveted “notchiness” between shits, the 360 was among the last Ferraris to deliver such an analog experience.
Photographed here, our 2000 Ferrari 360 Modena is a European market example that has gone only 5,050 KM (3,100 MI) since new—it is truly a time machine. The factory stickers remain intact on the door cards and the car has recently benefitted from a comprehensive major service and detail. Accompanied by its original books, tools and covers and its Ferrari warranty card, this is an incredibly well-kept, collector-grade example.
