2008 Rolex Daytona MOP Dial Ref. 116523

The Rolex Apex? You guessed it…the Daytona. (pun intended) 

Introduced as one of motorsports’ early tool watches, the Daytona has embodied the spirit of the sport for decades. And, over the years, Rolex has found many unique ways of styling the iconic chronograph. 

Reference 116523 is the first generation to house the entirely in-house Caliber 4130 movement—a major turning point in the reference’s history. The two-tone configuration in stainless steel and 18k yellow gold, with its gold bezel and crown guards, brings warmth to the typical purposeful architecture.

This 2008 example is fitted with one of the most striking dial configurations available, a mother-of-pearl dial with Arabic numerals.  Presented on the two-tone Oyster bracelet in steel and yellow gold, the blending of the original Daytona characteristics with a subtle jewelry-like aesthetic, is just perfect. Accompanied by its original Box & Papers, this particular Daytona is a true find.
