Unveiled as the spiritual successor to quite possibly the most iconic Mercedes-Benz, the 300 SL Gullwing, the SLS AMG marked a defining moment for AMG as a standalone performance brand. Designed, engineered, and built entirely in-house, the SLS combined a modern aluminum space-frame with dramatic Gullwing doors and one of the last great naturally aspirated V8 engines—it was an analog supercar created just as the automotive world began shifting toward turbocharging and electrification.
Introduced during the final year of production, the SLS AMG GT refined the original formula, seeing meaningful mechanical upgrades rather than cosmetic changes. With increased power, recalibrated transmission programming, and a more focused suspension setup, the GT served at the perfect bridge between the standard SLS and the extreme Black Series. And, with an estimated production run of less than 300 cars, the GT model is widely regarded as the most desirable road-focused SLS variants.
