When Stanley began working with Ibanez on the design in 1977, the goal was to create a guitar that stood out both visually and sonically. While exploring the Ibanez catalog for inspiration, one particular model caught his attention—the Artist 2663. Although it wasn’t widely popular at the time, Stanley was drawn to its striking asymmetrical body shape and unconventional styling.

That distinctive design became the foundation for what would evolve into the Ibanez Iceman, the signature model closely associated with Paul Stanley throughout his career. With its bold appearance and powerful stage presence, the guitar quickly became a defining part of Stanley’s image and remains an iconic instrument in rock history.
