First launched in 1964, the Rolex Explorer 1016, has become one of the marque’s (and industries’) most iconic tool watches. Initially created for explorers and adventurers, the Explorer was originally inspired by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay’s 1953 Everest expedition. The 1016 model featured a 36mm stainless steel case, a highly legible black dial with luminous 3-6-9 hour markers, and an automatic movement—all tailored to withstand extreme conditions.
Our 1971 Rolex Explorer 1016, is in very good period condition and represents the true versatility of the instantly recognizable yet sophisticatedly understated, Explorer.
