1974, Porsche introduced the G-Series 911— the evolution that would arguably define the model’s legacy. Spanning from 1974 to 1989, the G-Series run saw continual refinement, but none more significant than the final act: the 1987–1989 models equipped with the coveted G50 5-speed gearbox. Built by Getrag, this transmission delivered tighter tolerances and smoother shifts, earning it the reputation as one of the greatest transmissions ever built.
As the curtain closed on this generation of 911, Porsche marked the occasion with a 25th Anniversary Edition Carrera. Limited to just 300 coupes and 200 cabriolets for the U.S. market, the 25th Anniversary Edition came equipped with unique celebratory features. These included special Silver Metallic paint (or Satin Black), color-matched Fuchs wheels and a Silk Grey “Ruffled" leather interior with black piping.
Our 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera 25th Anniversary Coupe is an outstanding example of this limited-run 911. Having gone only 42k miles, this car appears to wear all of its original paint with the exception of the roof panel. Delivered new on June 8th, 1989 via Auto Plaza Porsche in San Francisco, California, it has clearly been cherished its entire life. Most recently, the car lived in a private collection in Naples, Florida, where it was clearly well preserved. Accompanied by its original books, window sticker and supporting documentation, this gorgeous and historic 911 is a wonderful addition to a budding collection, or a great way to start your Porsche journey!
